My involvement: To create a design for the jacket. The synopsis for the book was well defined and the author provided a clear brief for what she wanted to portray. The title and the subline almost determined the approach, with its comparison with sporting achievement - an image was sought depicting winning, running a race and achieving… to essentially excel in the book's topic - that of sales. It was considered that blue was the most appropriate colour, aided by the graphic nature of the chosen image; use was made of the image's dynamic perspective and was cropped to best advantage. The strong black element to the image was continued as a feature of the spine, acting to highlight the name of the author.
The back is purely textual, a promotional outline of the book's contents and its chief selling points. It also outlines the author's expertise and services offered to the business sector.
